On September 30, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality announced they would be extending the comment period for the proposed cap-and-reduce program to October 25. The extension was granted at the request of Oregon Manufacturers and Commerce and allied organizations, as well as some supporters of the program.
With nearly an extra month of time to provide feedback to DEQ, OMC will be taking this opportunity to further study the impacts of the proposed program on Oregon’s manufacturing industry and to enhance the comments the association has already shared with state regulators. In particular, OMC looks forward to sharing the results of a comprehensive economic study of the program with the agency.
OMC remains highly concerned that the program as proposed could disproportionately impact our state’s manufacturing industry, with lost wages and fewer jobs an inevitability once the program takes effect.
