Immediate Past Chair

Stuart Gray is the Chief Operating Officer at Roseburg Forest Products. Gray plays a key role as chief legal counsel and senior advisor on company strategies and their implementation, with direct involvement in complex business transactions and contracts.

Gray most recently served as vice president and deputy general counsel for Sears Holdings Corporation in Chicago, where for two years he led the legal teams supporting home services, environmental, merchandising, product safety, regulatory, operations, online and automotive centers. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Utah in 1997 and his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2000. He also earned an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management in 2016.

Gray’s roots run deep in the construction and building supply industry. Prior to attending law school, he worked for many years as a cabinet maker and finish carpenter. After law school, he joined Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP in Atlanta as a construction and commercial litigator for three years. He spent the following 12 years in progressive roles of responsibility at The Home Depot Inc.’s legal department in Atlanta, where he managed commercial and construction litigation across North America and was an associate general counsel for its home services, pro supply, operations and real estate departments.
