Payne is General Manager of Seneca and has been with the company for 23 years. As General Manager, he oversees all daily operations of the business, including the mills, timberlands, co-generation facility, and all employee relations.
Payne began his career with Seneca in 1990 as a forester. He was named Vice President of Timberlands in 1998, overseeing the management of Seneca’s 165,000 acre sustainably managed tree farm. Since then he has taken on manufacturing-related responsibilities for Seneca’s four sawmills. In 2008, Payne added to his responsibilities the role of Project Manager for Seneca Sustainable Energy’s 19.8 megawatt cogeneration project, which reached commercial operation in April 2011. In 2012 he took on oversight of Seneca’s IT Department.
Payne has a degree in Business Administration from Oregon State University and maintains numerous professional affiliations, including service to the Oregon Forest Industries Council, Blachly-Lane Electric Cooperative, and the Bethel Student Health Center Advisory Board.
